Online applications are accepted from North East (NE) students who are enrolled in academic programmes across a range of disciplines at institutions both inside and outside the region but still inside the nation.

NEC Merit Scholarship Details
Resident-ship: Only students who are citizens of one of the North Eastern States are eligible for the scholarship.
Duration: If the renewal requirements outlined in Paragraph 6 of these regulations are met, the scholarship will be made available to the chosen student for the duration of the course. Scholarship extensions beyond the required study term won’t be considered.
Other Scholarship Holder: The student must not be receiving any other scholarships or financial aid at the time they apply for the scholarship. A sponsored candidate who is employed full-time during the study period or a candidate who is currently employed are ineligible for the scholarship.
Year of Awarding Scholarship: A student’s eligibility for a scholarship is only determined in the year that their course officially begins. Of course, renewal is the only option for the next year.
Course/s: Students who enrol in diploma, degree, post-graduate, or M.Phil. / Ph.D. programmes at any institute authorised by the government are eligible for scholarships. Scholarships for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes will be awarded when the students have registered with the university. There won’t be any practical training or internships possible with the scholarship.
Family Income: Students who qualify for the scholarship must have parents or guardians whose combined yearly income does not exceed Rs 8.0 lakh. The candidate must present the income certificate issued by the appropriate authority.
Educational Qualification for NEC Merit Scholarship 2022
For consideration of a scholarship, the student must have met the following eligibility requirements in the prior qualifying exam:
Level of course: Diploma
Qualifying examination: A minimum of 60% in the overall examination for the HSLC, HSSLC, Secondary School Leaving Certificate, or Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate from a recognised State or Central board.
Level of course: DegreeQualifying examination: Exam for the HSSLC/Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate from a recognised State/Central Board with a minimum of 60% overall.
Level of course: Post Graduate
Qualifying examination: Degree level examination in any discipline (BA/BSc/BE/B Tech/MBBS/LLB/BCA/BBA etc. of any recognized Institute/ University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate.
Level of course: M.Phil./Ph.D
Qualifying examination: PG degree from any recognized University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate.
According to the scheme’s principles and after adhering to the NSP’s established method, the merit lists will be selected from among applications that have been thoroughly vetted.
Students will be chosen for M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes based on their research topics and synopses that are pertinent to the concerns and difficulties facing the NE Region. Ph.D. and M.Phil. subjects and themes should always be directly, particularly, and currently relevant to the NE Region. In general, basic and theoretical research will not be encouraged.
The scholarship is awarded solely based on merit. The candidate’s qualifying test scores and compliance with the level-of-course-wise slots given to the states will be used exclusively in the preparation of the merit list.

How to Apply NEC Merit Scholarship 2022
Candidates must submit their online applications for this scholarship via the official national scholarship portal, scholarships.gov.in. To submit an online application for this scholarship, please follow the instructions below.
